I've tried to use a standard cat 5 (blue) cable to get a longer run for my best wifi router. But the light on the side stays flashing yellow and won't go white ( so not connecting to my internet point). I've tried a few different cables but they all do the same. Is the white ethernet cable that comes with the router wired differently to standard cat 5 cables? And if so, does google provide a longer cable say 12 feet instead of their standard 6 foot? Thanks

No it's not, it's a standard ethernet cable. If you've tried multiple cables and it's still not working, that rather suggests something else is wrong and not the cable. Did you try these steps?

Thanks David. I opted to purchase a flat cat 7 ethernet cable for a few bucks and it seems to work with that style of cable. Not sure if latency or something else was causing the older cat 5 to not connect. Anyway I'm a happy camper now, all working fine. Cheers
