Missing devices in Nest wifi device listing

Bartman

I recently added two Lennox smart thermostats in my home. They connect via WiFi to my Nest router, however they don't show up in the device list. I can see the assigned IP address on the thermostat display, but not on the Nest list. Any ideas?  Also, is there a way to show devices ny the assigned IP address? Doing so would be a great help in tracking down IOT devices.

They still haven't appeared?

  • Google Home app -> Wi-Fi -> Devices

If not, you could you try a power cycle/ reboot of the Nest Wifi network. Can be triggered from the Google Home app.

You can see assigned IPs per device by going to the Wi-Fi devices list, click a device, then "info".

It's also possible to set a given IP address by what is called a DHCP reservation. This does not work for the guest network though.

I don't work for Google.

Thanks. I keep a list of all my IOT devices. I know their MAC addresses and IP addresses and these two Lennox therms have never shown up in my device list. Rebooting doesn't help. And yes I know about IP reservations. I use them for my NAS devices and other special things.

Hi folks,

@olavrb, thanks for the help!

@Bartman, thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with the device list of your Google Wifi. To isolate the issue, could you try toggling the cloud services off and on again? Here's how:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Wi-Fi and then Settings Settings.
  3. Tap Privacy Settings.
  4. Toggle Nest Wifi cloud services on or off, then tap Save.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Edward

Edward, without the cloud services, I can't access my device list. I turned cloud services back on and I could see my devices again, but still no Lennox thermostats. It would be helpful to be able to display or export a list of devices with IP address and MAC address. If you can remote into the router, one of the thermos IP address is 192.168.86.42.

Thanks again. Another wired thing happened today. I had previously reserved IP addresses for three devices. Today, those reservations were missing - the DHCP reservation list was empty.
