I've had a Chromecast device connected to my Google mesh wifi system for the past several years with no issues, until yesterday. When I turn my tv on the device powers up and appears to be working, however, the device is not visible in the Google Home app or to any of my streaming services on my android phone. I've tried everything and nothing seems to help. I tried to connect a different device to the tv and I have the same issue. I get the following error message after i go through the setup procedure, "Your Chromecast was setup successfully but can't be found. Make sure your mobile device and Chromecast are on the same wifi network. Turn off AP isolation. If AP isolation is enabled on your wifi router, you will need to disable it." It's very weird. Could there be an issue with the tv? It is not a smart tv. Any help/thoughts would be appreciated.

Try these steps:
If none of the steps above help, factory reset your Chromecast and do setup again. Once setup, try casting from those app(s) again.

I've done all of this. It still is not visible.

Dear David,
the troubleshooting you've suggested, doesn't seem to attack the issue.
Unfortunately the problem seems to be somekind of miss communication between the mesh devices.
if you turn the second mesh device off, and all devices are connected to the first one, the option to chromecast appears in the google home app, inside the options of the chromecast device. You can share and mirror the screen.
if you turn the second mesh on afterwords, the devices are able to find the chromecasts but after a while the option disapears; it also get's intermitent option to cast, and it connects and loses connection, in seconds.
This seems to be to be a software issue from google's side, on the way the mesh devices are creating the network among each other, and passing this information to the devices.
It's not a hardware problem we could solve.
Is there a way to get a custom support, from google's side?
Thanks.

I am having the same issues with most of my Chromecast and nest mini speakers since i installed a nest wifi pro - it is just a mess. I get the exact same error message.
I rebooted and even factory reset the devices - nothing. It is so frustrating, as I thought that the google devices would work super well together and now it is just a mess.

I'm having this issue too. The chromecast wasnt findable from any devices.
Nothing changed on my network in the last week other than turning on ipv6.
I tried rebooting the chromecast, my modem, and factory resetting the chromecast.
Now i cant even finish the setup process on the chromecast because after i get it connected to my wifi it's not findable. I'm assuming this is a nest wifi pro issue.

Yup this has now happened twice to me. Randomly

I'm experiencing this every day now. It's beyond frustrating that I'm having this many issues with hardware from the same manufacturer

I am having this problem too. I even bought a new Chromecast device thinking maybe my older Chromecast devices were breaking somehow.

Hi,
Same issue here, I've 2 nest in mesh mode and 2 Chromecast.
They appear randomly in Home and in the cast list, I've the impression that they switch from one nest to the other, same with my phone, so result is unpredictable...
Is there a way to force devices to connect always on the same nest ? I guess no as it's the goal of the mesh network not to be linked to a node... Or any way so that the cast info are broadcasted to all nodes?

I've the same issue after installing nest WiFi pro mesh. It seems that I can't see the Chromecast in Google Home when the smartphone is connected on different mesh device.

Exact same situation. My Chromecast works randomly sometimes available, and sometimes not available, after deploying google nest wifi pro mesh. Does anyone was able to solve it?

I've been having the same problem since installing Google Wifi Pro mesh network. I paused hundreds of dollars for a good wifi system and it causes issues with casting... All are Google Devices. It's incredibly annoying!
Has anyone found a solution?

I solved changing Chromecast power supply. Whit old WiFi on 2.4 GHz channel, the TV usb power was ok, but now with mesh, probabily the Chromecast need more amperes.
Do you have the Chromecast connected with standard power supply or with television usb?

They are plugged into 220v adapter.
But not sure what the input current could change in the network they connect to...

I have 4 Chromecast. Some external some built in to Google TV. Sometimes I can see any from my device, sometimes only 1 is missing.
Resetting my Google Nest Wifi Pro from the Home app makes everything work again... Until it doesn't. 😬

Yeah, same, though within Google family they could make it interoperable 😅

My Chromecast used to work perfectly fine pairing with Google nest mesh wifi pro until a few weeks ago it decided to stop working ie cannot be found from the app I wanted to cast video from. It cannot even be found on Google home app. I restarted or did a factory reset the Chromecast, and re set up. However failed at the very last step when pairing with wifi. With the same error msg as described above. I tried to use the chromecast from a different location (second floor) which connect to another Google nest wifi pro satellite router, it works perfectly fine. Just not working when I use the Chromecast downstairs when which powered by the main wifi router. Can anyone assist.. thanks

Same story here. I've tried to change security options on the nest and it seemed to help for a while but it just came back. Going to have to ditch nest wifi. Resetting the network 3 times per day for my wife and kids while I work from home is not a viable option.

Hello,
I've recently also updated my network to the Google Nest Wifi Pro, and I'm using two acess points.
Now I'm having problems casting to the chromecasts.
I've verified that if the chromecast and the mobile phone are connected to different acess points (just have two) it's not possible to cast from the phone to the chromecast.
Problem is that most of the times the mobile is connected to one and the chromecast is connected to other and this is not enabling the cast option on the google home app.
Just verified and if i change the chromecast device and the mobile to the same division, and turn the other acess point off, they will connect to the same acess point, and thus enabling the cast option on the google home app (and enabling the cast from google chrome and other apps!)
Does anyone know if it is possible to go around this issue?
Because I believe that this could help a lot of this issues...
(you can see to which acess point the devices are connected, from the google home app)

Hi,
I have 100% the same issues as everybody else. New chromecast device. Restarting the network made it work. But I had to restart the network two times now. And that is two times too many when having invested in the expensive network. Just a sad day. I dont expect that somebody finds the answer to this anytime soon. So I'm returning the system and spend the $$$ on something that works. Sadly.

I fixed it :). Permanently. I retured it ... and bought a TP Link Deco XE75 Pro. Network is not as good. But my chromecast devices are still working after a few hours.

Bought mine online, and threw the box to the bin, thinking "well it's google and all the same ecosystem, what could go wrong..."
Well, need to stick to it for now, hoping they could solve it OTA.
07-11-2024 09:45 AM
I hope they do. And yes ... shame with the box. But I would never had though that this was a issue for Google "things" to talk to each other. But I had one week to solve this. And I can not wait to have this fixed. The network seems a tiny bit faster on the Google NEST though.

Any update on this issue, it's still bugged and should be pretty easy to replicate. Having to reset or factory reset devices this regularly should not be necessary. This bug has been introduced in the last 6 months at most. can someone from qa replicate the bug then go back through firmware builds until they cnr? It really doesn't seem that complex to triage.
