So, my WiFi Pro arrived today and I was really excited to get it setup. I set everything up using the Google Home app and downloaded the updates. I have a fiber gigabit connection from my provider and their most recent modem. My wired connections are pegged to about 90Mbps. My Nest WiFi (non Pro) was getting 900+Mbps wired.
My troubleshooting has been the following:
My Nest WiFi Pro is in DHCP WAN mode and connected directly to the 10Gbps ethernet port on my modem. I am using a mix of CAT 5 and CAT 6 cabling and my switches are all gigabit or higher.
Plugging the old Nest WiFi (non Pro) back in yields 900+Mbps on wired connections.
I think something is wrong

The fact that you keep on posting the exact same thing as you did for the regular Nest WiFi reveals that you know it's a firmware/software issue that generalises across all Nest WiFi devices, including the Pro.

Mel , I don’t know if you work for google , or it’s a community thing - either way, it’s quite annoying they you have left this post , I would delete it , as it’s not helpful , and is dangerous. It’s clear beyond doubt their is a product fault , so say that , and move on

My issue was solved by swapping the ethernet cable between the modem and the Nest Wifi Pro unit. I was using the same white ethernet cable that came with my old Nest wifi. They look exactly the same as the new cable. When I swapped to the new cable that came with the Pro, I got my speeds back. Very strange.

Hey rheironimus,
Thanks for letting us know what ended up being the solution for you with the ethernet cable. For those that haven't tried updating their ethernet cable, go ahead and give that a try and then report back if you're still having the same results as before the swap.
Thanks,
Jeff

Take a Look at this thread. Plenty of people having the same issue, cables are not helping them, including myself : https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Nest-Wifi/Nest-WiFi-Pro-wired-connection-is-about-10-of-what-...

Thanks for raising some awareness on that thread. I'll hop in over there and see what I can learn that might apply here. All the reports are helpful and will allow us to paint a good picture of what's happening. If any of you notice any other patterns in the problem or behavior, feel free to share it here.
Thanks,
Jeff

Something else, which I tried. When you connect the nest wifi pro, to an older router that connects directly with the ONT. The problem goes away. Not everyone has had success with that, but the commonality in most of the comments seems to be:
I doubt this is user error or localised issues. Too many people are seeing it, and now its been covered here : https://9to5google.com/2022/10/31/nest-wifi-pro-speed-issue/
We don't expect an overnight fix, but a clear acknowledgement of the issue, and that they are looking into, would help. It's not fair to put early adopters through all the (Factory Reset, Change DNS, routines). It consumes a lot of time, and if support were aware of the problem, they could save a lot of people wasted effort.

Hi everyone,
We’ve duplicated your thread to the main one here. You’ll receive all updates on this issue on the main thread and we recommend updating and checking this thread when needed.
Thanks,
Mel

I am having same issue in Florida. I am on a gig plan and only getting about 500 down on wired connection directly from router
11-03-2022 03:38 AM
If only that cable were of any usable length 😁

In case google does not get their stuff together and get this fixed before my return window closes... does anyone have comparable suggestions? I really don't want to do amazon eero... but if I do, well then, that's that. I haven't heard of any other mesh networks supporting matter yet. Have any of you heard of any mesh networks that support matter? What should I go to if Nest wifi Pro doesn't pan out? All suggestions are welcome. Just a single family home, about 50 connected devices. 1Gb Fiber internet.

I'm in a similar situation. I've got about 105 connected devices and require 2-3 points in addition to the router to cover my house and outdoor areas.
11-02-2022 02:09 AM
I'm considering the Tp-link xe75 WiFi 6e system.
Alternatively looking at Asus's WiFi 6 offerings

I've got this Netgear Orbi SXK80 not Wifi6e but works perfectly well on a 330Mbps connection, gives me full speed and good range in the house. Also it has a 2.5bge WAN Port. Says its for business use, but you dont need any subscription and can be fully setup via the Webpage.

To control a Matter-enabled device with the Google Home app or Google Assistant, you need a hub. Select Google Nest devices will receive future software updates so they can work as a hub. The devices listed below are hubs made by Google. We'll add to this list as more become available.

I'm chatting to support atm and not impressed.
11-02-2022 03:27 AM
What are they saying?
11-02-2022 05:01 AM
Usually stuff about thick walls, area of the building, number of floors - despite having told them that they are on ethernet backhaul and I'm sat 60cm from the router.
It's been referred up the chain, but she said they are getting lots of calls and it may take some time.
I wonder why that might be?

That's a shame. I was quite impressed by the range of tests they asked me to do before raising a ticket to their technical engineers. Prefer they be thorough with diagnosis.
Hope it gets better for you.
The end result is in 24 to 48 hours I'll have a response from their technical engineers. However, I have noticed a similar thread has an answer from community expert who has said Google is looking into a possible problem and fix. Which probably means they found something and are working on it; I guess it's why people are giving it a few weeks before sending the router back.
11-05-2022 08:41 AM
Still haven't had an update from Google. Any one got any more info on their case yet?
11-02-2022 05:19 AM
Why does this thread name say SOLVED? The problem has most definitely not been solved!
11-02-2022 06:21 PM
They do this all the time on this forum. It's a marketing strategy: hide the problems and hope these go away magically. Several publications out there are getting aware of this issue, and it's obviously not great promotion for their new fancy expensive product.

Just been on a chat with Google support they got me to change the DNS settings and then wanted me to contact my service provider (BT in the U.K.) to get them to change settings on the modem so the router could work in bridge mode. I thought this would be just a plug and play system. Looks like I’m gonna go back to my old and usable router. Shame really.
11-02-2022 06:05 AM
They asked me to change the DNS servers to Google until I pointed out that is what the automatic mode does in their router
11-02-2022 06:18 AM
Only the business SmartHub has bridge mode
11-02-2022 06:10 AM
Can we have this thread changed back to unresolved, I'm still having issues with being capped at 50Mbps
11-02-2022 06:59 AM
reverted back to the old nest wifi routers and the speed is back to normal. Google should apologize for the inconvenience this issue has caused everyone. Never buying any google products ever again. What a shame.

I have the same issue with my KPN 1GB Fiber connection in The Netherlands. This is connected from the ONT on a switch where VLAN 6 is tagged. From another port it connects to the wifi pro device with VLAN 6 untagged. Connection behaves erratic and usually doesn't supply more than 80MBits, but more often it just drops to come up at random again.
Switching the internet back to my fritzbox 7590 immediately gives me full bandwidth.
11-02-2022 07:19 AM
This is insane. We need an official announcement on when this will be fixed. It's absolutely not centralized to a small UK population.
11-02-2022 06:28 PM
Good luck with that. There's open threads with hundreds of replies about major Nest WiFi issues that have been going on for several years. Some are still not even decently acknowledged, let alone resolved. They like to implement the opposite of official announcements: try to secretly close the thread and cover up the issues as long as possible.
11-02-2022 07:24 AM
I've just resolved my issue. Packed it all up and sent it back to Amazon.
11-02-2022 07:25 AM
Aye, went back to my trusty fritzbox, everybody happy again. I'll sent it back, and hope at some point Google will fix this.
11-02-2022 07:26 AM
Thats my plan tomorrow. Adios. Had Google Mesh. Nest Wifi and Now Wifi 6. Done with this. What are you getting next if you dont mind me asking. Clealry in the market.
11-02-2022 07:49 AM
Just back to my fritzbox, which was fine to start with. However, I wanted to make a move to more smarthome oriented setup and this system supporting thread.
So fritzbox 7590AX with 2 fritz 6000 repeaters. Welcome back GB Internet 😄

Amazon doing an amazing price on OrbiPro - Router and satellite for £299.95
11-02-2022 07:55 AM
Yep, this is what i have works great tbh.
11-02-2022 07:57 AM
Thats ORBI stuff is awesome really.
Only reason I went with a fritzbox is because this provider handles connections through VLAN ID's over PPPoE, which isn't a common thing available to a lot of routers.

Are you allowed to post a link? I cant find it
Thanks Darren

I confess to being a little suspicious of the price, but at least with Amazon and distance selling laws there's very little risk.
