Nest WiFi constantly cutting on and off

Since June 3, 2022 My nest WiFi has been randomly cutting on and off. I’ve spoken with Google at least 8 times and they’ve replaced my router. My internet provider has replaced my modem 4 times and monitored it for a week without losing any connection. Google has had me ping it twice. I did for 5 minutes and again for 20 minutes with 0% lost. As I’m writing this my WiFi has shut off again. Can anyone solve this? I can’t work from my home office and my daughter can’t do her class work online currently unless we use a hotspot. When I use my router from my provider I have zero issues. My entire home is automated and this is horrible. It worked perfectly for a year with never losing a connection.

Interesting. I just connected the Ethernet to my tv and it continued to work while the WiFi disconnected again. It’s a wireless issue. Google keeps telling me they are looking into it and passed it on to a senior specialist who will respond in 24 hours.

Hi, everyone.

Sorry about the disconnect issues you're seeing. I know how frustrating that can be to have things up and down on the network. A few of you have offered some good details about your setup and the things you have tried so far. Thanks for doing that. I have a few things to check (if you have already done so, move to the  next one). Once you've tried them all, let me know if you are still seeing the same issues.

  • When you run a mesh test, are all your points at a good or great connection on your network?
  • Do you have IPv6 enabled or disabled in your settings in the Home app?
  • Are you using the default or custom DNS settings?
  • When you get a disconnect, is your network registering as offline, or do the devices simply drop?
  • When there's a disconnect, do the status lights change on your router or WiFi points? If so, what color?

If you can give me any other info you think might help out, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

- Jeff

I am experiencing a similar issue.  I have 9 wifi points around my property (10 acres).  I have had this set up like this for several years.  All points used to have excellent signal status, and never had connection problems.   It seems within the last month or so, all of a sudden my points have either poor signal strength, or drop off line.   I am also experiencing (which is turning into a daily issue) no internet connectivity until either it works its self out (about 10-15 mins) or I reboot the main wifi router.   I have not upgraded to the new Nest wifi either,  I am using 1st and 2nd gen Google Wifi units.  June-21 -2022

I have the same issue. I just have one unit and it disconnects every 15 minutes or so.

same issue, we have 3 points and connection drops almost hourly, became impossible to work from home, extremely annoying. It reconnects relatively quickly but so unstable. We’ve triple checked with the internet provider and it is definitely not an issue in their side, signal is strong and stable. The issue is on the google nest wifi side

Hi jguinan007,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Google Wifi. I'd love to know more about this. What's the light status of your Google Wifi when the internet cuts off? Also, are there any changes on your network before this started happening?

Thanks,

Edward

Hi everyone,

Just one quick final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need help, I would be happy to keep it open. If there's more we can do, just let me know.

Thanks,
Jeff
