Hi,
I am trying to start up my nest wifi in a Uni accomodation building, through my rooms PPPoE router and during setup after the scan QR code phase i am prompted by the following error code on both my iPhone and IPad.
“Error Opening Page
Hotspot login cannot open the page because the server cannot be found.”
I have tried all obvious solutions (on off again etc) along with contacting my network admin.

When you say “through your rooms PPoE router” are you using this router in bridge mode “pass through” so using your nest router to connect over PPoE, or is the router connected to the ISP over PPoE and you’re connecting to it over Ethernet using DHCP to setup?

Hi Tuzza, sorry for the delay in response and thank you for the reply.
I am not an expert with networking so i hope i can explain my issue well enough.
Essentially, I have a modem in my room and need to sign into the third party ISP’s page using a web page, this page has a setting for PPoE to (theoretically) allow me to set up a router.
This is done by plugging in the google nest wifi into the modem via Ethernet where the error message is occurring, with that being said, i guess i am doing the second of the option you listed.
Thank you again.

do you have your username and password for your Pppoe connection?
Make sure the network cable from your modem is plugged into the WAN port on your nest router not the LAN port. Go through setup again. If needed it should ask you for your username and password.
