I’ve replaced my Google Nest Wifi network with a Google Nest Pro network. I’d like to retain my older Nest Wifi access points to use as Google Assistants/speakers. Is this possible? When I try to set one up in the Google Home app, it tries to set it up as an access point, but it fails bc it’s not 6E compatible. It’s fine that I don’t use them as access points to extend my mesh network, but surely I can connect them to the network simply as connected devices, can’t I?

Search is your friend. Been discussed in this thread:

Darn it! I really tried to find something through search, but there are a lot of repeating terms in there. Thanks for surfacing this thread.

Hi @hapa17
You will find in the link that @jimcapraro shared that it is currently impossible. 🙄

Thanks RXShorty! So disappointing — all I'm really looking for is a way to keep using the hardware I already have as a doorbell chime and for my kids to use as an intercom. Not even looking to extend my mesh network out of these things.

Hey everyone,
@RXShorty, and @jimcapraro, thanks for the help.
@hapa17, we appreciate your interest however, we don't have any news to share about using your Google Nest Wifi point as a speaker with Google Assistant outside of your current Google Nest Wifi Pro network. We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take it as feedback.
I also suggest that you send feedback by following this link. Let me know if you have other questions or concerns, otherwise I’ll be locking this thread after 24 hours.
Best,
Mel
