Nest slowing wifi speeds

Hi there, we bought a nest under a year ago after our orbi died. At first it was really great but then we had drop outs and the internet slowing down to dial up speed. We thought it was the  ISP device so we changed companies and bumped up from 50 to 100kbs. We continued to have issues so then we ditched the ISP modem and plugged the nest directly in. Same issues. The speed test from the next app is 90 but on connected devices between 10-20. This is with various iPhones, windows laptops as well as iPads. If I do a reset by unplugging or within the app then it fixes the issue but then reverts back again. We are having to constantly reset the system. I’ve searched on the internet and I’ve applied the fixes suggested in the community posts like changing the DNS server address and turning off IPv6 but we still have issues. I can’t see a fix beyond this. Any suggestions or do I need to return the device? Many thanks

Hi  Whyismynestslow,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear about the situation that you are experiencing with the slow speed on your Nest WiFi. I understand how frustrating it can be when things do not work as expected. But don't worry; help is here. In this case, I just need to ask for some information to provide the best assistance:

  • What's your approximate home or apartment's lot area in square feet?
  • Were there any recent changes in your network setup?
  • How many devices actively use the internet at once?
  • Do you use a modem and router combo?
  • Is there a switch located on the network?
  • Have you tried to run a speed test while connected directly to the modem?
  • What steps have you already tried before you contacted support?

Once I have this information, I can provide the correct solution.

Please keep me posted. I'll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,

Jenny
