Nest wifi point and nest mini speaker failing setup

Hi,

I have been trying to add a nest wifi point for days with no success. I have tried on iOS, in which case it gets to the 'final bits' stage and times out, and on Android, where the setup fails after trying to connect to router wifi. I have done all the recommended things I have seen from prior posts in these forums - disabling IPv6, local network is on for iOS, no VPN, etc. Is there anything else I could possibly do?

As a side note, when I tried to connect a nest mini speaker to the network it also failed in the Google Home setup process.

What kind of internet connection is the wifi connecting to? Can you give me more details?

Best regards,

It's connected to a fiber modem. The nest router connects to the fiber modem no problem and broadcasts the wifi, but none of the points or other nest devices will connect to the nest router.

I've read a lot of other threads on this subject and have tried everything - still no luck. I just factory reset the router and the point and the wifi network in the Home app, waited an hour, unplugged the routers for a while, and then started from scratch. It did not change the outcome. Tried with a Samsung device this time to do the setup, didn't work. iOS times out in the 'final bits' stage. Android devices fail in the 'connecting to your wifi' stage. I have disabled IPv6. I have ensured no VPNs are in use. No private relay on iOS. Just total failure from Google on this one.

Hi cheddarrrr,

Thank you for posting and for the troubleshooting steps performed. I'm sorry for the inconvenience in the setup process. Help's here.

I need to ask a few questions to further assist:

What type of Nest WiFi are you trying to set up?

What type of Nest or Google router do you have?

Also, I'd like to mention that Google Nest Wifi Pro (Wi-Fi 6E) can't be combined with Nest Wifi routers or points or Google Wifi points (Wi-Fi 5) in a mesh network. However, you can follow the same instructions for adding additional Nest Wifi Pro routers to your Nest Wifi Pro network.

If the issue isn't resolved, please follow the steps below:

Android

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Connections Wi-Fi.
  3. Tap, then hold the name of the network until the pop-up menu appears.
  4. Tap Forget Network.
  5. Tap the name of the network, then enter the required credentials to reconnect.

iOS

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Wi-Fi as the SSID of the setup network. Forget this network.
  3. Tap the name of the network, then enter the required credentials to reconnect.

Also, you can try to restart your Google WiFi device.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Byron
