Nest wifi randomly going offline

Sydtriman
Community Member

For the past week my Google nest Wi-Fi go randomly off-line. There have been absolutely no other changes in my network or environment that could cause this. I’ve had no issues prior to this.

I can see a couple of posts in the forum of a similar vein, has anybody been able to solve this issue? Is it a firmware problem?

I’ve done a full factory reset which hasn’t helped, and in fact seems to have made it worse.

Setup: Router (firmware 13729.57.27) and 2 points (firmware 1.54.267572)

any ideas?

I’m still experiencing this issue. It really is frustrating me with Google’s points. When’s the fix coming?

So I had this issue a while back and followed this thread. There was in time some update pushed that seemed to fix the problem, but as of recent days ITS BACK!! and it sux

It’s back for sure and with a vengeance. How has a company the size of Google not been able to correct this yet?

Same problem. Sometimes multiple times a day. Really hoping there’s a fix soon as it’s gotten especially bad recently. Regretting my decision to go all in on this mesh system.

Google should at least give us an option to rollback the firmware.

At least SOMETHING for us to try.

I have the same issue. I "upgraded" from the original Google Wifi to Nest WiFi and I am seriously regretting it. Per the "event history" list in my Google Home app, my Google Wifi Router went offline 25 times yesterday. It is constantly interrupting my work, including causing me to need to reschedule important client Zoom meetings on more than one occasion. Google knows this is a pervasive issue and yet they have not communicated anything to customers about it. They should stop selling these devices it they know they have a problem and don't know how to fix it.

Just wanted to share I've also been experiencing this in that last few weeks. Having to restart the wifi points multiple times a day

I'm also having the same issue after the firmware upgrade, tried factory resting my Mesh and still no luck

Hi there just posting to share that I'm also having intermittent Network drops for the past 2 weeks I've had to reset my points multiple times a day and I've even factory reset my device which allowed the network to work for about 3 days and now it's going out again.

I hope it fixes coming soon because this is getting frustrating I've already had Google replace my nest Wi-Fi once a few months ago for a different issue.

I've had the same issue with my Access Point losing connection daily sometimes multiple times in a day. Google should at least allow us to roll back to the previous firmware while they investigate. Right now we are basically using a product that is sub optional considering what we paid for it.

Agreed. I've already committed to switching to another brand of mesh Wi-Fi if this continues it's highly unreliable.

Same happened to me, I'm waiting for replacement nest Router, I don't think if that helps.

Same problem here. And today I have had 3 meetings I've been hosting that I've been disconnected from. It takes around 4 minutes for it to reconnect itself by which point most people have left. This is getting ridiculous now.

Same issue here. I spent a lot of time on troubleshooting and did factory reset for a few times. any ETA for hot fix?

Experiencing the same issue. Is it possible that we can get a rollback to an older FW?

I am having the same issue as everyone else. Very frustrating considering how much I paid for this setup.

Router (13729.57.27)

2 Points (1.54.275951)

It's time to throw away Google Wifi.

Highly Dissapointed in Showing off such an Advanced Mesh Network but only to have your kids run to you and say Dad Internet is off again and again . Very Frustrating when you can buy other MESH SYSTEMS for half the price.

I am having the same issue too, started last Tuesday. Totally unstable.

I work from home and all my Meets calls drops 2 or 3x per hour.

I have Google wifi for 3 years and just now started these issues. I am very frustrated and considering change now to other hardware.

Can we please fix this?

I have had everything Google from day one. I've had every single Pixel. I've had Google Wi-Fi and now Nest Wi-Fi.  Every single thing you buy from Google has some kind of issue.  I've lived with it, but here lately it seems like they're stuff is just absolutely crap.  I hate and I mean I hate the new Pixel 6 Pro.  Nothing ever works correctly.  I'm almost done with this company!

Google/Nest could rollback the firmware version until they got the fix.

I work from home, I need stable internet!!!

Please, rollback!!!!

I guess now we know why Google don't have reviews on their products on the Google store site

Adding to the chain. I have to unplug/plug in my access points several times a day. They keep going offline, even while in use.

Software version 275951

Cast Firmware 1.54.275951

I am beginning to think it's not the router WiFi, but the access points. Yesterday the WiFi went down again but only upstairs where the two access points are. The basement WiFi where the router is was still working. I only had to reset one of the access points in the mesh and it started working again. I will do some more testing.

Same issue, been happening for a few weeks. Did a complete factory reset on router and point Tuesday of last week, and it lasted until today. If this persists through next week, I'm scrapping Google and using another mesh router system. Judging by this thread, they've known about the issue for months and have done nothing to attempt a fix other than canned excuses.

All nest WiFi points going offline. At random moments., did an factory reset last Friday.

Adding to the list. I work from home and luckily I have networked my house but I basically have no wifi approximately 30% of the day because I cant access the points during my day often. This has created innumerable problems for me.

The firmware needs to be rolled back or fixed in the next week or I'll be switching to a different mesh network option.

Has anyone had any luck reaching out to google support for any satisfactory resolution?

It was such an interruption to my and my wife's work (as we are both working from home) that we ended up replacing the wifi system with Eero. When I contact google they only offer me a replacement (after they can verify an issue) but that seems kinda pointless as it will run into the same firmware issue.

Wondering if I should file a complaint with bbb.org

I haven't heard a word other than the guy responding on this thread. When I tried to call I was told that they are aware of the issue.

They offered me a solution that has been kind of working since then. I now have the points unplugged at this time. There are some rooms of my house that have no wifi, but they are networked so they are mostly unaffected.

That said, that isn't what I paid for but it has resolved most of the problem which I'll accept short term.

I was on chat with Google support for about an hour. Messed around with DNS settings, did a power reset and sent a few trouble reports in. Haven't had the issue come back, but it's only been a few days, so we shall see. Reach out to them, it gone stay can't hurt

I just unplugged my points for now. The internet works perfectly. Obviously the service area is smaller.

Ouch,  this sucks.  Same issues, worked great for many months, now completely unreliable,  whole system crashed and burns a few times a day now.

Yes i am seeing  the same thing. It is the access point. Nest/Google need to make this top priority to get this fix.  Paying to top of the line product with top $. I would expect the best. Otherwise i rather spend my money on other mesh product. It is disrupting and bring terrible reputation to the Nest/Google brand

Same problem. Upgraded from google WiFi to nest with point, mesh goes offline more than once an hour. I work from home so this is beyond infuriating and completely unacceptable

Someone said unplugging just the access points and leaving the main modem solves the outage issue. It's an annoying fix for now they said but it apparently works. Anyone try this yet?

yes i have. but now my range is much smaller. definitely a problem with the access point firmware that was updated recently to cause that.

This post has been active and open for three months now. Occasionally a Google "Specialist" pops in and says he has no real information to share but is hoping maybe a fix will come our way soon. In the meantime my system keeps cutting off during important Zoom meetings. I'm at the point where I'm probably going to dump Google and switch over to Netgear's Orbi system. Honestly if Google doesn't get their act together soon this is going to do major damage to their brand and could end up as an expensive class action lawsuit.
