New Nest Wifi Pro specs -- 10 Gbps ports??

PowerFinance

Google formally announced the Nest Wifi Pro today:

https://blog.google/products/google-nest/nest-fall-launch-2022/

and it's available for pre-order:

https://store.google.com/product/nest_wifi_pro_specs?hl=en-GB

However, I was wondering about the specs. Under "Ports and connectors" it says:

"Two Ethernet ports support 1 Gbps wired speeds per router"

Is that correct? Given the higher speeds of Wi-Fi 6E, I was expecting to be able to connect to a router that supports 10 Gbps FTTH connections, to get the most out of my ISP's connection (here in Canada, one large ISP already supports symmetric 8 Gbps FTTH). 1 Gbps ethernet ports would be very limiting.

Perhaps they need a "Nest Wifi Pro Ultimate" or something, with 10 Gbps ethernet ports?

Not only this, i use a firewall so the device would have to be in bridge mode.  Is there now an option to have mesh working in bridge mode either wireless or wired back haul?

Specs verify 1gbps only ethernet ports.

@waghelak: My guess is that bridge mode with wireless mesh won't happen. What about something like Ubiquiti Unifi, TP-Link Omada or Cisco Meraki Go?

I don't work for Google.

Thanks for the reply, @olavrb . If it's not a typo in the specs, I'll probably not upgrade at this time, but instead wait for something better that would help me get those top speeds (up to 10 Gbpps) connecting to the internet via FTTH, rather than just internally in my LAN over Wi-fi 6E.

Hi PowerFinance,

I wanted to jump in real fast and confirm that the 1 Gpbs speed on ethernet connections is correct as it's listed in the device specs. Your feedback on the wired speeds is appreciated and I understand how your situation might have you looking for more. Do you have any other questions about the device or is there anything else I can help with?

Thanks,

Jeff

Thanks for the reply, @Jeff. As I mentioned above, I'll likely not upgrade now, and wait for a faster product.

No problem, PowerFinance. I can understand why you would hold out for an option that's more suitable for you.

As we have our answer to the original question, I'll go ahead and mark this as resolved. If anyone needs anything else, please let me know as we'll be closing up the thread in the next 24 hours.

Thanks,

Jeff
