Port Management Flexibility

LeafyNautilus
Community Member

I am trying to do a few things with port management (via android) and am having difficulty:

1 ) I can't seem to open a range of ports. I've seen this posted multiple times but can't find an answer. This used to work but seems to have been updated to inoperable

2) I would like to be able to deactivate certain port rules without deleting them (so i can turn them back on when I need them. Is there any way to do this without totally recreating the rule (one port at a time) when I need to use it?

3) I'd like to programatically open and close ports as needed. Is there any way to connect to google home app or the actual google nest router from my Win10 desktop?

For the price of this router and in today's threat-laden internet environment, this product should be more robust/flexible. Seems like a big step backward in tailored protection just to run a mesh router in the house.

Hi LeafyNautilus,

  1. Are you following these instructions? What happens when you try to do this?
  2. As far as I know, there isn't an option to disable and not delete a rule unfortunately.
  3. I'm afraid not. The Google Home app is used to control Google Wifi and Google Nest Wifi.

This is a mostly a user to user community, therefore if these issues are important to you, I’d encourage you to also send this feedback directly to Google. You will not receive a response, unless Google need more details from you, however the team are still reading the feedback.

Hi, LeafyNautilus.

davidking is right with his suggestions and his comments on the Home app functionality. Hopefully that answers your questions, but if there's more we can do to help you, please let me know. Thanks for posting to the community.

Hi, everyone.

As we haven't had any activity here recently I'm going to go ahead and close the thread. If you have more to add, feel free to start a new discussion.

Thanks
