Problem Adding Access Point - Thinks it is a new Network

I have a Google WiFi Mesh set up with one unit configured as the router and two access points. I just bought another unit to use as an additional access point. However, during set up, it wants to set it up as a new Wifi Network - it finds Googe Wifi, not an additional access point. All I am trying to do is another point to my existing Wifi meshed network. Any ideas?

Follow the steps here, "add a point or additional router":

Make sure you are using a Google account that have access to manage the existing Google Home home and existing Wifi device(s).

Also make sure you are adding this new device to the same Google Home home as the existing Wifi device.

One last thing: Make sure all Google/ Nest wifi devices are made for the exact same region/ country. Mixing this often does not work due to differences in Wi-Fi regulations (channels, frequencies, signal strength etc.).

I don't work for Google.

may i check on the pt on "Mare sure all Google/ Nest wifi devices are made for the exact same region/ country. Mixing this often does not work due to differences in Wi-Fi regulations (channels, frequencies, signal strength etc.)." will we be able to check?  As consumers, we are at the mercies of retailers at times.

It should say on the packaging. Else you can set up each puck at a time as primary, then connect to it and go to following URL in a web browser, and it will tell what region it was made for:

Thanks. I have done so and when I scan the barcode or enter the setup code for the additional device, it comes up as "Google WiFi" not as an additional point (even when I select to add a device). In other words, it attempts to set up its own network named after the device rather than being added as a point t my existing network. Thoughts?

I kept trying and it finally set up - however, it thinks it is the router, not the point in the Den which is hardwired to the internet access point. And the Mesh is created around it rather than the point I have set up as a router. It has made Mesh with existing points a bit more difficult. Thoughts?

When testing Mesh, it does not even show the Point in the Den.

Hey, all.

I just wanted to check in here to see if you tried olavrb's last suggestion and if you have any updates on that. Also, if things are working now, please feel free to let us know.

Thanks.
