Reconnecting a mesh WiFi point

I had a fully configured Nest WiFi with a total of three points; the main router, first floor point, and second floor point. A while ago the first floor point wasn’t working, and after some trouble shooting I ended up factory resetting it to get it to reconnect.  Now it is not listed as a WiFi point in the app. It does show in Google home on the list of devices, and works as a speaker. It is connected to the internet.

How do I add it as a WiFi point again?

Hi Treebeard,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to hear that the Nest WiFi point that is located on the first floor is working only as a speaker after you factory reset the device. Thank you for providing important details to better understand the inconvenience you are experiencing. No worries, help is here.

Before we proceed with further troubleshooting, let me ask you a few important questions:

  1. When did the issue start?
  2. How far from the router is your Nest WiFi point when you try to set it up?
  3. Can you describe the status of the LED lights on the Nest WiFi point?
  4. Have there been any recent changes to your home environment, your WiFi network, or any recent outages?
  1. Is your Google Home app updated?

In the meantime, I recommend you perform a manual factory reset. Please follow these instructions:

  1. At the bottom of the Nest WiFi point, above the "G" logo, press and hold the small circle that's etched into the device for about 15 seconds.
  2. The factory reset process starts about 5 seconds in. Continue to hold the button for 10 more seconds until there's a sound to confirm the device is reset.
  3. After the device is reset, it can still appear in the Home app. To remove the device, perform an app factory reset.

After the factory reset, it will be necessary to set it up again.

Thanks for your kind attention; I will be looking forward to hearing from you. If you have any further questions or need assistance during the setup process, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm here to help ensure everything goes smoothly.

Best regards,

Virna
