Remove Old or Current Device from Network

Is there or is there not ever going to be an option to remove devices from you own your network?

There are so many devices and many “unnamed” ones I want to remove. You would think resetting network to factory settings would fixed it but alas it doesn’t.

Not having the ability to remove any device you want to is a security risk. What happens when someone gets on my network that I didn’t authorize. It’s fine that there isn’t an authentication needed for every device added but I should be able to remove anything I want to anytime I want to.

Simply, As the admin of my network I should be able to pick a device and remove it from the network and subsequently block ot by MAC address if I choose. It seems like such an easy fix but after reading so many threads that date back pretty far it seems as though google doesn't want us to have that capability.

So I ask, will it be manually removing devices ever be an option?

Probably not. Provide it as feedback through the Google Home app if you want the devs to know.

Devices should be removed after 60 days I think, but that too seems to be broken for some.

The reason you see unknown devices are probably due to MAC randomization.

I don't work for Google.

Hey folks,

Thanks for the information, olavrb.

Eric_sfo, if the unnamed devices are still there after 60 days, try creating a new home structure and move your active devices there. Once moved, delete your old home structure.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Mel
