Router replacement

Electricity flashes took out my Google nest router. Can I replace just the router and have it connect to the existing points?

Hello @Tawn

Assuming the existing Nest WiFi Point units are still working properly, yes, you can replace just the router. However, to get those points connected to the new one, they will need to be factory reset (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/6246619?hl=en ) and then added to the new system after you set up the new router unit. You can also use the same network name and password when you set the new system up so your existing clients connect without having to be reconfigured.

I have one ordered. It’s at my in-laws cabin so it’ll be a few weeks until I can try it out. Thank you for checking!!

No - WiFi at the cabin was down the whole time I was there. I’ll be going back in September and hopefully get to do it then. Thank you!!
