Set up a network that uses VLAN tagging - google wifi nest pro 6e

Hi,

I want to connect my new Google Wifi Nest Pro 6e directly to the Fiber box (without the ISP provided router).

I am trying to connect via PPPoe in the google configuration menu, but can't connect to internet.

I saw that this is related to VLAN issue. My ISP uses VLAN101.

According to Google Support site it is possible to configure VLAN in the primary google box, if you download an update. See Set up a network that uses VLAN tagging - Google Nest Help

----

Note: If your ISP uses a Google supported tag, and you temporarily use a VLAN-supported router, then once your network is set up and online, Nest Wifi and Google Wifi devices will be able to download an update that allows it to support VLAN tagging. This will allow you to set up your Nest Wifi router or Google Wifi primary point again in the future without additional equipment.

----

I have not found a solution for this and no places to download this update.

I did as google said and established connection to internet via my ISP router and fiber box.

Connection works but is unstable, and i loose my connection.

ISP suggested me to buy a KAON router that can be set into bridge mode and VLAN can be set to VLAN101.

So setup will be Google Wifi Primary connected to KAON router, that is connected to fiber box.

Anyone found a solution on how to configure the VLAN directly in the Google box ?

Experience with KAON router or other router set into bridge mode ?

You say your ISP uses VLAN tag 101, while Google says ( https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9798157?hl=en ) Nest Wifi supports VLAN tag 2, 7 and 10.

A cheaper option is to get a managed switch between your ISP box and the primary/main/master Nest Wifi unit to untag the VLAN tag before internet reaches it (the primary Nest Wifi unit). This workaround is described in the VLAN tagging guidance ( https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9798157?hl=en ) "Use a managed network switch", but more details can also be found here:
