Speedtest from cable modem to Nest Pro

Hello all,

I've been using the new Wifi Pro, I'm on Xfinity 1.2Gig plan, and the Nest Pro only gets about 700 or so MBps download speeds.  I've played with settings and turned options on and off to see if the speed test from the Google Home app would change.  I've had Xfinity come out and check the lines, everything is good.  I have the Pixel 7Pro, speed tests range from 600-800MBps.  I asked Xfinity, why give me 1.2GBps to my home, but I can't get that download speed from the cable modem to Nest Pro.  My cable modem is Netgear CM2000 which can handle up to 2GBps.  Any suggestions or comments?

Hi @tech_guy

The Nest Wifi Pro only has 1GB port so you never going to reach 1.2GB.
But what does your Nest Wifi Pro performance result shows within the Google Home app?
The latest firmware did increase my overall speed, check if you have firmware version: 1.63.355999
Using WiFi you never going to reach the full 1GB. 😊

Thank you, yes, that is correct.  I'll never expect anything over 1Gig due to the port.  Everything is wireless in my home.  My last speed test was 666MBps download and 43.8MBps upload.

I have the same firmware version.  I restarted my cable modem and Nest Pro this afternoon.

My highest speed test was 897MBps, but has been fluctuating from 300 to 400 MBps.

I just did a speed test from my laptop and it was 106MBps, not good at all.

I have 31 devices on the network as of right now.

Im having a similar issue... paying for 800mbps... getting about 60 through the wifi, and only about 120 when hard wiring into a repeater. super frustrating... any help here?

Oh wow, that's not good, who's your ISP?  What kind of cable modem do you have it connected to?

ya its connected to a netgear nighthawk router... its gigabit... should be sufficient... but im getting throttled big time somehow. We are using comcast as an isp

I would try this, do a factory reset of your cable modem.  Do not plug in your Nest.  Netgear will re-download Comcasts configuration.  Do you have a desktop or laptop to plug directly into the Netgear?  If you do, connect to it and then run a speed test.  Just to see if are getting 800 or more.  Speedtest.net is my go to site to test the speed.  And may I ask, how old is your cable modem?

Same here. It is frustrating. I tested with a Netgear Orbi, and I was getting the full 1.2 and about 800-900 wireless close to the point. Nes Wifi Pro makes my life easier, but speeds are down. Not idea how to fix it.

Hello,

I ended up getting a deal with Xfinity to get their XFi Complete cable modem/router.  When that device was activated, my downloads speeds to that device was about 1400MBps, upload over 200MBps.  I would test on my Pixel 7 Pro, fastest speeds was 687MBps download and 235MBps upload.  I used this device for a few weeks to see how it would go.  Then I went back to the Google Nest Pro, I turned the XFi device into bridge mode.  Once I got that done, then my download speeds to my Pixel 7 Pro dropped down to mid 100'sMBps download, and upload high 100'sMBps.  Now, going back to the Nest Pro, I ran a speed test to the router, I'm in the 600'sMBps.  To me Xfinity is definitely throttling the speeds when you don't use their product, that's my opinion and I think is happening.  I think I'm going to just sell the Nest Pro since I'm not super satisfied with it.  And with Xfinity giving me the XFi with no monthly rental fee due to the plan I'm on and unlimited data option.  Hope this helps you out.
