I'm about to unshackle myself from racketeers BT and switch to a modem with Google Wifi at the same time. I've tested the setup while I'm waiting (I'll just need to tweak the PPPoE details when I switch) and all is good.
I note that the default address range is 192.168.86.x - but I have several devices using fixed IP addresses on the 192.168.1.x range. Before I change the Google Wifi to .1.x Is there any advantage to using .86.x over .1.x?
Also - if I give the Google Wifi the same SSID/password as my existing WiFi (which will switched off, of course) will that mean that all the Google Home devices "just work" after the switch, or will they somehow suspect "spoofing" and refuse to work?
Thanks

Hi @lunlutnut
My guess is that the Google range is chosen to be different from any other modem or router your ISP delivers, just so there isn't an IP conflicting situation. So if you use a modem or router that doesn't use this range or DHCP, you should be good.
The easiest way is to reuse your WiFi SSID and password. Yes, all your devices will connect automatically to your Google WiFi when you reuse these settings. 😊
