Trying to replace existing Nest wifi mesh system with Nest Wifi Pro mesh

Hello,

I am trying to replace my existing Nest wifi mesh system with Nest Wifi Pro mesh or another system.

The existing system, although apparently still functioning, does not show up in Google home.  I cannot alter it, or delete it or check how it is functioning since the change  from Google Wifi to Google home. Ultimately I would like to stay with Nest and upgrade to the Pro,  but...

It functioned perfectly well until that time. I also have a nest thermostat, nest doorbell cam and numerous other devices that are functioning ok on the wifi network. But what happens if I change to WiFi Pro mesh or TP link or some other system.

I have a myriad of items that depend on that wifi name and password.

Can I just unplug the current system, give the same name and password to the new system and try it that way?

Can I find the old network on Google home some how?  I have tried all the troubleshooting tips.

Thank you for your advice.😊

Hi DashRiprock,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I understand that you're looking to replace your current Nest WiFi mesh system with Nest WiFi Pro or another system and have some concerns before proceeding. Additionally, you're unable to locate your existing Nest WiFi mesh system within the Google Home app. No worries, help is here.

Regarding your inquiry about the expected behavior of your devices, such as your Nest thermostat, Nest doorbell cam, and other devices when you upgrade from Nest WiFi to Nest WiFi Pro mesh. I confirm to you that they can be reconnected to the new network without issue if you use the same network name and password.

To answer the second question about unplugging the current system and giving the same name and password to the new system to replace the Nest WiFi with the Nest WiFi Pro, I don't recommend you do it in this way. For more information, visit our Google Help Center to learn more about replacing existing Nest WiFi or Google WiFi with Nest WiFi Pro.

Finally, to better assist you with locating your old network in the Google Home app, could you please answer the following questions:

  • Are you signed into the Google Home app with the same Google Account that is linked to your Nest WiFi devices?
  • Did you create any “home” structure in the Google Home app?
  • When you migrated from the Google WiFi app to the Google Home app, did you add your Nest WiFi mesh devices to the Google Home app? Check out this article's Google Nest Help Center guide: Migrate Google WiFi to the Google Home app.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Virna
