Unable to complete set up - Connection failed

Since our internet provider wasn't able to turn wifi off on our old router, they gave us a new Comtrend Nexus Link 3122 without wifi. I have tried repeatedly today to connect our new Nest Wifi router with no success, including unplugging everything, including the ethernet to my desktop, and starting over.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Honestly if you have a new modem your best bet is to factory reset the nest wifi system and start fresh.  Luckily the factory reset for the nest wifi is quick and painless!

Tried that twice, at different points, with no success. Clearly there is some incompatibility. Sending it all back tomorrow.
