Unable to rename devices on wifi

ScottyB

I understand that unused devices will fall off the wifi device list after 30 (or possibly 60) days, however it seems the device names are retained as I cannot rename a new device to a name that was used previously (i.e. "Scott's Android"). Since the old devices are no longer on the list, I cannot go back and change the names of the old devices.

I think the optimal solution would be to clear the names when they fall of the list, or to allow multiple devices to share the same name (still differentiating devices based on their MAC address). Alternatively being able to access archived devices to change their names would be workable, but not ideal due to the length of the list.

Hey, ScottyB.

Sorry for the frustration you're having with the device list. As of right now there's no way to manually edit or delete devices on the list, but it is a suggestion I can pass along to our internal teams here. I can see how that would be useful in your situation. Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.

Thanks.

Thanks for passing that along Jeff. When searching for solutions I came across several other posts about this topic in various places on "the Internet" so I know I'm not the only one having this issue.

Cheers,
ScottyB

Hi, ScottyB.

You're definitely not the only one asking for the feature, and I've passed the idea on more than once. We'll see if it eventually makes its way into the feature list. As we have our answer here, I'll go ahead and close up the thread, but if you need anything else going forward, please feel free to start up a new thread.

Thanks!
