Upgrading to Nest Wifi From Onhub

I have the onhub router with a bunch of wifi points connecting to it. I was wondering two things.

  1. Would I be able to use the old wifi points with the new nest wifi router?
  2. Is there an easy way to connect the new nest wifi point so I don't have to manually reconnect everything?

Hello @hservedio

1. I assume you mean you have some "Google WiFi" units added to it as mesh secondary points? If so, then yes, these can be added to a new Nest WiFi system. They will need to be factory reset so they're ready to be set up and added.

2. Unfortunately, there is no straightforward upgrade / replacement process. But, if you set the new Nest WiFi Router up using the same network name and shared password, at least all of your existing clients should reconnect to the new system without having to be reconfigured. So, take note of those details (and any other settings you want to recreate) before you take down the old system.

I had the same question on would the Google WiFi points work with the new Nest Router in replacing my OnHub router. Thx of the answer.

DON'T DO IT!!!

Just look through the WifI posts related to dropping connections. I lose internet 5-10 times per day, sometimes for up to 20 minutes.

What router and wifi points do you have?
