Use wifi in bridge mode without wired input

Referring to the support article here, I understand the new (mesh) router can be connected to the existing (traditional) router in the bridge mode to create a single seamless network. My question is can this be done wirelessly, if the new router needs to be placed away from the existing router and not wired in to? So basically use the new router as wifi range extender?

Hello @crishi

One Google WiFi unit, Nest WiFi Router, or Nest WiFi Pro unit must be connected to your internet service via Ethernet cable. It is not a range extender.
