Using 4G router with Google Mesh

Killy

I have recently moved away fro from Virgin Media as I no longer wanted to be tied into an 18 month contract and needed a shorter term more flexible solution. I purchased a TP-Link 4G router (TL-MR6400) and an O2 unlimited data sim and connected these to my Google mesh network. When I connect to the wireless router directly I achieve speeds of ############ mbps but when connected to the Google network the speed drops to 5-6 mbps. What could account for this significant drop in performance? Are there any settings on the router or Google home I should change? Thanks K

Thanks Edward, I was concerned that my 4G router did not support bridge mode and maybe that was the issue. However having looked at other posts on the subject decided to take all Google Wi-Fi points and the Google router back to factory resets and rebuild the Google network. This seems to have resolved the issue. The speed achieved through the Google network is now consistent with the speed when directly connected to the 4G router. Time will tell but I can only assume the previous configuration when connected to the Virgin Media modem was causing the problem.

Many thanks
Kieran
