Using iOS and Google Wifi Access Points, cannot open Digital Wellbeing within the Google Home App. Get the message Couldn't open settings, TRY AGAIN. Rebooted phone, rebooted entire network, deleted Google Home App, still doesn't work, same error. App version 2.42.120 and iOS version 14.7.1. I just wanted everyone to know I was able to finally fix this problem after posting this 18 months ago. I replaced my entire Google Wi-Fi system with a competitor. While I have to pay a few bucks a year for the parental controls, it's just as flexible and management from iOS devices works great. Also, was able to improve my whole house coverage with one less access point.

Having the same issue... it's been almost a year now.  @moosemusicman 's post above is the closest solution to the problem, but still not with full flexibility.  Look forward to another community specialist response @Jeff?  @GarrettDS ?

It is my understanding that the only way to restrict YouTube content is will Digital Wellbeing.  I do use Safe Search which works great.

10 months later and still no resolution. Currently on the lastest app version 2.54.105 and iOS 15.5. If your interested there is a free service for Home users from OpenDNS that you may want to check out. I am using it and it does an ok job as a content filter, which is configurable, and because you're using their DNS servers which cache a lot of content, it may seem a little faster when browsing. https://www.opendns.com/home-internet-security/

I found a hack that works to stop kids accessing adult content!

go into the Primary Network > click on the WiFi name to Manage it > add a group and turn on Safesearch

Still, it’s crap that they haven’t resolved this from the Well-being icon

Fixing access to millions of users to an option that regulates how kids interact with a Google product seems to not be a priority for Google or its shareholders... i guess its a matter of financial priorities this is not the biggest innovation and who cares... until the day it appears on an article and boom it will be fixed in 24hrs... you already paid for the product... so let it be not fixed...

It's been over a year. The feature still doesn't work.

  • Google Wifi units
  • Migrated to Google Home from Google Wifi app
  • iOS

Its just bizarre. I'm going to send them back. Bye bye google, welcome Eero.

All I want is to block youtube so that my kids don't see the (bad) influencers screaming and cursing in my living room for many hours per day. Its a simple requirement and it was the reason why I bought the Google wifi routers.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for posting and sorry for the delay ― Let's get this sorted.

Make sure that your Digital Wellbeing content filters are enabled.

Reinstall your Google Home app.

If the issue persists, try factory resetting your Google Nest Wifi. You can use the same network name and password so your devices can reconnect afterwards.

Keep us posted.

Cheers,

Mel

Any more movement on this? I talked my partner into switching over to fiber a couple of weeks ago for what I thought would provide more control over the kids’ web surfing, but with this issue that’s not possible, and I’m in the doghouse for unnecessarily upending our ISP.  Please help!

Hey folks,

Thanks for getting back to us, @jinglishi0206 and @Peemster. Could you try to check on another phone or tablet, preferably, and Android device?

Keep us posted.

Thanks,

Mel

I am logged in to youtube with the same profile as in the google home app. On youtube, restricted mode is turned off. However, ehen I want to cast to my TV through google chromecast 3, there comes a message:

Something went wrong

This video is unavailable with Restricted Mode enabled. To view this video, you will need to disable Restricted Mode.

WHERE?!?!??!?!!!

I found an article that I should check the “Digital Wellbeing” Feature in the google home app. I only get this message:

Couldn’t open settings

TRY AGAIN

I am using: Iphone 12, google home mini, google chromecast 3. I restarted everything (even the Wifi router) . Unplugged everything. I need help. Thanks.

Google never fails to disappoint me again and again.

First my fresh nest hub 2nd gen not connecting to 5Ghz, I gave up and used 2.4, and now wellbeing does not work.

Going back to my old devices. I’m done

oh, in case you decide to look at the issue sometime before 2050, I use an iPhone 11 pro.

Still no solution Google?

Or maybe you are using all of your resources on the AI chat bot so you can't support the existing products?

Very disappointed and will think hundred times before buying any Google product.

Will you please share which competitor hardware/software solution you switch to? I would like to get rid of my Google WiFi as well so that I can use something that actually works properly. I have also been posting about this issue for 18 months and I’ve never even seen Google post any kind of response.

Thanks.

This is still an issue years later and has not been resolved yet! Very poor service from Google as it would protect my family from unwanted sites.
