What are expected typical speeds for Google Nest Pro system

Gale

Happy New Year.

1.  I have wired speeds of slightly over 500 Mbps down and 50 up, tested on my Windows PC, hardwired to the back of the Nest Pro Router.  Wireless speeds are only 150 Mbps down, but 50 up on my iPhone 13 Max Plus and also on the same aformentioned PC, if I go wireless (disconnecting ethernet), 150 down and 50 up.  I am only 6 feet, clear shot, from Nest Pro Router when speedtests are done.  Shouldn't I be getting more than 150 Mbps download speed via wireless?  It's very disappointing.

2.  If I increase my ISP speeds to 1000 and 100 respectively, would I get higher wireless download speeds then?

There are many speed complaints about the WiFi Pro.  Supposedly there was a firmware update to fix it while the speed test still fails on speed for the Home app.

Hey folks,

Thanks for posting — let's see what's going on.

Are you using a modem/router combo from your Internet Service Provider (ISP)? How many devices are dropping from the network? Also, do you have any paused devices?

Give these steps a try:

If you're using a modem/router combo, set that to bridge mode to avoid double NAT issues.
Make sure that there is minimal to no interference (concrete, bulletproof glass, metal, mirror, etc.) and the points are no more than two rooms apart.
Remove any special characters in your network name and password.
Turn off IPv6.
Change your DNS server into 8.8.8.8 on the primary and 8.8.4.4 on the secondary server. Hit the save/ floppy disk icon on the upper right.
Unplug the power from your Google Wifi devices for 2 minutes.
If the issue persists, try factory resetting your network.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,
Abi

Not using a combo.

Google Nest Pro Router is ONLY thing connected directly to ISP modem.  Service is with fiber - capable of very high speeds.

No paused devices.

No interference.  Points locations are fine - mesh is working well.

No special characters in passwords.

I'm not smart enough to turn off iPv6 - never turned it on, as far as I know.

Why would I change my DNS server when my ISP, which is using fiber is giving me fast service at 500Mbps and more.

I have done the "unplug the power" from the Google router...twice... and it made no difference.

Seems to me that the "hot operating router" has "throttled" down the speeds in an attempt to cool off.  Pretty sad since I have only a demand total of about 2Mbps down and 3Mbps up with 36 devices online.  The Nest Cams are the biggest users.  I have a fan blowing onto the router to cool it down, and operation improved, with slightly faster WIFI speeds.

Hello Gale,

Thanks for the update. I'm happy to hear that it has improved.

You can confirm if you have iPv6 by doing the steps below:

Open the Google Home app.

Tap Wi-Fi > Settings > Advanced Networking.

Turn on IPv6.

Tap Save.

You will also need to try our Google DNS servers as it helps with troubleshooting your main issue. Here's how:

Open the Google Home app.

Tap Wi-Fi > Settings > Advanced Networking.

Tap DNS.

Change your DNS server into 8.8.8.8 on the primary and 8.8.4.4 on the secondary server.

Tap Save.

Lastly, you can also try factory resetting your network.

Regards,
Abi
