WiFi - router question and family network

We reset our WiFi password and took the WiFi routers we weren’t using and didn’t synch them to the new network and password.  Our son has taken one of those routers and connected his computer to it.  Can he get online by being hardwired to a WiFi router that’s flashing blue, when it’s not been connected to our internet at all?  I think he’s trying to bypass the family settings, but we set him up on the guest WiFi and now he’s hardwired into one of these bad boys, does it even work when it’s not connected to the rest of the mesh?

Hi KrisB123,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear that you are having this situation with your Nest WiFi that is not connecting to the internet but providing signal just if it is hardwired. Don't worry, I can help. In this case, I just need to ask for some information to provide the best solution:

  1. What model of Nest WiFi do you have?
  2. Is the device showing in the Google Home app?
  3. Do you see any error code on the app?
  4. Are you still having a blue light pulsing on the device?
  5. What steps did you take after making the changes in your network?

Please keep me posted. I'll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,

Jenny
