WiiM Pro Audio Receivers go offline on Google Nest Pro WiFi

I have a set of 4 WiiM Pro wireless audio receivers on my Google Nest WiFi Pro network and am dealing with them continually losing network connectivity after a while.  I've done all I can to force them to stay awake, assigning them static IPs, giving them DHCP reservations, giving them preferred static DNS entries, etc... but they will still go offline. In the Google Home app, they still show as connected, with their assigned IP, but they no longer respond to any pings. A router reboot causes them all to start working again.  So it's hard to determine who is at fault here.

I'm asking to see if anyone else is having this issue with these types of devices, as I've heard from others on Asus or other brand routers that they're not having these same issues.  I'm just wondering if this is all related to these same issues that others are facing on the potentially faulty firmware that is causing drops/disconnects on our Google Nest WiFi Pro Routers, per: https://9to5google.com/2024/07/02/nest-wifi-pro-update-issues/

For others that may have run into this issue with their WiiM devices, the fix seems to be to disable IPv6 on the WiiM device itself.  This has made all my devices respond immediately and are no longer seemingly dropping off the network, or not responding.  Not sure if there's some conflict with IPv6 with the Nest Pro Wi-Fi devices, but will leave this to the WiiM/Google devs to chew on. 😉

Hello @VkJaep,

Thanks for posting in the community.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience and the fix you discovered for your WiiM devices not responding well with Google Nest Pro Wi-Fi. Disabling IPv6 on the WiiM device itself seems to have resolved the issue for you, and this is valuable information for other users who might encounter similar connectivity problems.

While we can't confirm a specific conflict between WiiM devices and Nest Pro Wi-Fi regarding IPv6, here's how others can explore your solution:

  • Check your WiiM device settings. Consult your WiiM device's user manual or support resources to understand how to disable IPv6 on the device itself. The exact steps might vary depending on the specific WiiM model you have.
  • Test and Monitor Performance: After disabling IPv6 on your WiiM device, observe its performance with your Nest Pro Wi-Fi. See if the responsiveness and connection stability improve.
  • Contact WiiM Support: If disabling IPv6 doesn't fully resolve the issue, consider contacting WiiM Support directly. They might have further insights specific to your device and offer additional troubleshooting steps.

I appreciate your willingness to share your solution!

By sharing your experience, you've potentially helped other users troubleshoot connectivity issues between WiiM devices and Nest Pro Wi-Fi routers. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Thank you for your effort.

Regards,
Jorge
