Youtube and Play store not working o Google Wifi

I have Google Wi-Fi gen 1. YouTube buffers a long time before playing. YouTube TV buffers a long time, then will play a few seconds, then buffer again. Google Play will not download any app updates. Similar issues occur on every device on my house (PC, TV, XBOX...)

I have cleared the cache and app data for each of these apps. I have restarted the Wi-Fi network, including the ISPs cable modem. I have changed from Google DNS to openDNS.

Nothing has worked.

All apps work fine on cell data, including updating apps on Google Play. However, on Google Wi-Fi, they do not work.

Other apps on my devices work and have connectivity, including streaming apps, such as peacock. It seems only the Google apps have issues.

I did a speed test and a mesh test on Google Wi-Fi and the result is ZERO

I have seen a couple people post about the same issue elsewhere a year ago, but the resolution for that person was to buy a new router altogether, and the issue was solved. Another poster mentioned that using a VPN also worked. I have not tried a VPN.

Any suggestions? I really don't think buying a new Wi-Fi system makes sense!

Hi, VitorFleury.

Sorry to hear you're having issues with YouTube and the Play Store. It looks like you've done a fair bit of troubleshooting already. Thanks for letting me know what you have tried. I have some questions that might help us sort this out.

  • What country is set as your Home app address?
  • Does that address in Home match your Google account settings?
  • Do you have any preferred activities set up in Home? If so, what do you have selected?
  • Have you switched back to Google DNS, or are you still on openDNS?

If you can give me a bit more info, I'm sure we can figure out what's happening here.

Thanks.
