any way to hook up the google wifi to a modem with no WAN port?

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking here. But, in case this helps, the primary (router + firewall) Google WiFi unit requires an Ethernet connection to the internet. If you have a WiFi hotspot only, you won't be able to connect them directly. There have been some reports of people using a "travel router" as a bridge to make it work, but it's not going to perform all that well, so I would consider it a temporary solution only.
