google nest point setup

JacobHolm

Hey guys,

I already have a google Nest setup at home, and recently bought one more nest point to expand the wi-fi coverage. When I try to setup the new point, the google home app can’t find the point via bluetooth, or I have tried it twice where Home found the point, tried to configure it, but couldn’t complete the configuration…

Now I’ve started over… now google Home finds something, but pushing the “next” button, I just return to the start of the wizard.. and it asks me what I want to setup..

Please help 😅

What Wi-Fi device did you have from before, and what device did you get?

Did you buy everything in the same region/ country? Mixing, like EU and US for instance, won't work. Also mentioned inside the setup guide:

Do you have the latest version of the Google Home app? If on iOS, have you made sure the Google Home app has permissions to local network?

Have you tried the Google Home app, same Google account, same Google Home home, from a different iOS, iPadOS or Android device?

I don't work for Google.

Hey,

It is a google nest setup I’m trying to expand with one more point to increase coverage.

All devices have been bought from the same merchant.

Yup, the latest Google Home app is installed, I have tried to delete it and install it again.

Haven’t tried the alternate device approach, will try that 👍

If you tell us what exact devices you have, we might have additional things you could try out. For instance if the new device has ethernet ports (Nest Wifi router or Google Wifi 1st gen, _not_ Nest Wifi add-on point), you can try to set it up while being connected by ethernet cable to the master/ main puck. Then remove ethernet cable after successful setup.

solved the issue… Placed the Nest Point next to the router and performed the setup again after reinstalling the Google Home app on my phone.

The wizard then performed without errors. I have afterwards placed the Nest Point in the right place and the Mesh test looks good. All set for now.

Thx for the help 🤙
