I'm looking for instructions to factory reset a Nest Connect — so far I've not found any clear instructions on how to do this yet. This step on a Nest connect support page suggests a factory reset is possible, but doesn't offer clear instructions on how to do it.

I’ve inherited a Nest Connect with home purchase and need to reset so it connects to my system. There is a dearth of good online guidance for this reset, but fortunately the system is fairly intuitive. I held down the button until it turned yellow, then blue, then pulsing blue. That cleared previous owners settings. I am now able to reconnect with my own wifi system..
Google Nest should update their online support for this; a definite gap which I hope it not intentional.

I tried searching as well. The instructions in your link imply that if you hold the Nest Connect's button for longer than 8 seconds, the light will turn yellow and the Nest Connect will prepare to factory reset.
There's a Reddit post from 3 years ago (https://www.reddit.com/r/Nest/comments/cu7gsb/how_do_you_factory_reset_a_nest_connect/) saying these indirect comments are the ONLY instructions on how to reset a Nest Connect.

Right — found that post too! Hard to believe that's the extent of instructions…

Hi Brad, thanks for your help. This seems to be instructions to reset a Nest Detect, but doesn't reference the Nest Connect.

Important: If you hold Connect’s button for much longer than 8 seconds, the light will turn yellow, which means your Connect is preparing to factory reset. To prevent this after the light turns yellow, immediately release the button, and then press the button once more to cancel the factory reset.
Best regards,
Brad
