Lock won’t lock

My lock manually locks and unlocks with ease. When I try to lock it from the app I can hear it kick on and try but it says that it can’t lock it.

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I understand you're having issues operating your lock through the app, even though the hardware functions correctly manually. I appreciate you clarifying that you can hear the motor kick on while the app reports a failure. I'm happy to assist you.

To better understand your setup and provide the most accurate troubleshooting, please provide the information requested below:

  • Device Identification: Could you confirm whether you are using the Nest x Yale Lock or a different model/brand?
  • App Environment: Are you currently using the Nest app, the Google Home app, or a third-party app to control the lock?
  • Installation Details: When locking the door manually, does the deadbolt slide into the strike plate smoothly, or do you have to push or pull on the door to get it to engage?
  • Power Status: Have you received any low battery notifications recently, or have you already tried replacing the batteries?
  • Connectivity: Is the lock showing as "Offline" in your app, or is it showing as "Online" but simply failing to execute the command?
