Nest Detect shows low battery after replacing the battery with new. Have tried this twice now, newly purchased batteries, installed correctly, and still says battery is low. What is the fix?

Hi there,

I apologize for my late response and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I can definitely understand how frustrating your situation must be, but I wanted to make sure that your issue was addressed. Do you still need help with this issue? I know that there's been a delay in response since you posted.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.

No, not resolved, still getting same message after trying multiple new batteries. Your response provides no potential solutions so is unhelpful. And yes, over a month seems an unreasonably long time to respond and then to provide no solutions as well makes it a double fail in my opinion. So yes, I need actual assistance.  So far I have had NO assistance.

I am sorry that no one has posted a reply. My message was simply to see if you are still having the issue. I made no intention of stating I would solve it, only to ask if you were still having it, and that I would assist if you were. Which is the case here. You will want to follow this Troubleshooting Guide first to determine if the batter is just low, or if its dead. Also, you have to use a specific battery so Only use Panasonic CR123 or Energizer CR123A lithium batteries. You can learn how to replace the battery here

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best regards,

Brad.

Brad,

I am having the same issue, except I have had the nest for 6 months (with no problems until now).   This problem with low battery warnings started a few weeks ago.  I have replaced the batteries with the recommended Energizer AA lithium batteries three times and in each case, after two days, my app alerts that the batteries are low.  If I do not change the battery or miss the message from the app, the nest will chirp in the middle of the night.  I have checked the batteries with a battery meter and the batteries are good.  Something is wrong with the Nest Protect.

The last time I changed out the batteries on my Nest Protect to try again was two days ago.  I have been checking several times a day to see if there are messages about the battery.  Every time I have checked the app says my batteries are good.  At 7:30 tonight, I received a warning on the app that the batteries are low.  I took the Nest down (just the action of which now sets off every pet in the house from the ear splitting chirps in the past few weeks), took out the batteries and immediately tested the batteries with my tester.  All the batteries are good.

This equipment is not cheap and I thought my family could depend on the Nest line of products.   I would like a real answer.  Do not send me to troubleshooting.  I have been there and it is an issue with the Nest product itself.  I'm not being snippy, I just need a real answer.

Thank you,

Laura

My Nest Protect seems to be having this issue. It reported low battery. I bought Energizer AA lithium batteries and put them in. I forced a test to get it to check all statuses and it’s still reporting a low battery.

I am sorry to hear that you have been having the same issue. I am afraid that because the Nest Secure system is mostly discontinued, I cannot guarantee you a replacement. I hope that you are able to get one though. Please first fill out this form so we can collect some important information from you. Once the form is submitted, you will have your case number.

Best Regards,

Brad.
