Nest Yale Lock - app doesn't see manual locking

BarbaraW

Just installed a Nest x Yale Lock on my front door.  I've been noticing that if I lock it manually, the app still thinks the door is unlocked.  I want the App to see that I have manually locked the door.

Shouldn't the lock know that it has been locked manually?

I have already gone through all the trouble shooting, uninstalled/reinstalled and reset everything and this still happens.... I thing this may be a "bug" with the app... please advise.... Thanks!

Hi BarbaraW,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community and for sharing all the steps you’ve tried to fix the issue. I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with the Nest x Yale Lock and for the delayed response here. I’d be happy to help you with this; let’s check it out.

On the Nest app, if someone locks the door by turning the thumb turn inside your home, you won’t know who locked the door, but you’ll know when it was locked in the Nest x Yale Lock’s history. You can check out this guide to learn about Nest × Yale Lock History in the Nest app.

I understand that you have already uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Let’s make sure the mobile device and Nest app are up-to-date.

  1. Open your iPhone's Settings > General > Date and Time. Tap Set Automatically, toggle it off, and then turn it back on. Make sure that the time zone, date, and time are correct.
  2. Go back to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Nest. Make sure the Nest app has permission to use the phone's location.
  3. Check for any updates for the Nest app in the Apple App Store.
  4. Check for any iOS updates.
  5. Uninstall the Nest app, restart your iPhone, and then reinstall the Nest app.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Lance
