Nest app will not connect to nest connect

New nest / Yale lock.  Lock has been professional installed and is working with the master code.

I’ve followed the instructions and the nest connect will not connect to the nest app.   Get “something went wrong” every time.

have tried all of the recommended fixes and still getting the same message.

bought another nest connect thinking the first one may have been defective and I’m getting the same messages with the new one.

If I cannot use the app to monitor and change codes I’ll have to have the lock uninstalled and go another route.   This has been frustrating.

is there a person I can speak to about this process or does anyone else have suggestions

have probably 30+ nest devices at various locations and have never had an issue setting up and connecting.

this is my first nest connect experience however.

Hello Milhous,

Thanks for posting in our Community. I know how it feels when something isn’t working the way it should; let’s get this resolved.

A few questions: how far is the Nest Connect from the router? Do you have any other devices that experience issues with Wi-Fi? Also, are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the device you want to pair? Those devices could interfere with the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth signal.

Let’s try the troubleshooting steps below.

  1. Plug the Nest Connect into a power outlet.
  2. Press and hold the bottom button until the LED light turns yellow and then blue. This action should reset Nest Connect to factory defaults.
  3. Make sure the phone is on the same Wi-Fi network as the selected network for the Nest device.
  4. Bluetooth should be enabled, but it should not be connected to any Bluetooth devices. Disconnect any Bluetooth devices paired to your phone, such as earbuds, smartwatches, etc.
  5. Cellular data should be turned off.
  6. If you have an iOS device, tap Settings > Privacy > Local Network and turn on Local Network Access for the Nest app.
  7. Start adding the device back to the Nest app.

More information here: Set up Nest Connect.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Lance

Hi HarrisonSma,

Thanks for posting, and I appreciate you trying the steps given above. Let's dig deeper into this.

Do you have any other Nest products already added to the app? If so, temporarily turn them off and it won't try and connect to them to get your Wi-Fi information, which is where it's getting stuck. Also. I suggest you make sure your phone is on the same Wi-Fi network that you’re trying to add your Connect to, move your Connect closer to your Wi-Fi router while you try to pair it, and If you use Wi-Fi extenders, disable them while you pair your Connect.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Zoe
