Next x Yale Lock - getting low battery too quickly

For about 2 months or so I have been having to change the Nest x Yale lock batteries after just 1 months of use.

In previous years it took about 1 year on avg. to show me the low battery notifications.

I have used the same name brand batteries I have always used in previous years and I have made some searching around the same topic and have seen it pop up without any real answers.

My question is, do these Nest x Yale locks have a specific device life? Is there a requirement to change anything other than the batteries after about 5 years?

Or is my unit bad, and if so what can be done?  I already tested everything that has been asked for in similar threads about this. Nothing has change in use from my end other than the battery dying quicker.

I have 2 Nest Yale locks.  The front door battery life has always been good (6+ months) until a couple of months ago.  Now I'm down to 2 weeks or less.  I've checked the batteries going in and coming out.  Always seems to be one or two that are majorly drained (uneven drain across the set of 4).  Used Duracells for years, but tried the Energizer Max with same result.  Tried everything I have found online, except Firmware Update.

Hi there!

I understand how frustrating it is to experience frequent rapid battery drain with your Nest Protect. Rest assured, we're committed to resolving this issue for you.

Concerning the battery drain, it's unusual for a Nest Protect to deplete batteries so rapidly.  If this one is draining significantly faster, there could be an internal component issue.

A damaged or malfunctioning sensor could be a significant factor. When a sensor is compromised, it might consume more power than usual, leading to rapid battery depletion. This is particularly concerning if you've noticed a decline in battery life.

Next Steps

To address these issues effectively, consider the following:

  1. Clean Your Nest Protect: Regularly cleaning your device can help prevent draining battery caused by dust accumulation.
  2. Contact Nest Support: If the problem persists, reach out to Nest Support. They can provide specific guidance based on your device's model and history. They might suggest troubleshooting steps, firmware updates, or even a replacement if necessary as long as it's under warranty.

Regards,
Brandon.
