Saving a Nest camera recording

Warrior2911

I have an incident that I need to record and keep for my records for all of eternity. I have the 60 day plan and it's not clear if my video will disappear in 60 days or how I can keep it forever. Any help on the matter will be greatly appreciated.

You have to download a clip in order to save it indefinitely. If you're on a 60-day plan, older events roll off and are deleted.

Below is a link to Google Nest's Help topic on downloading clips. If your camera uses the Google Home app, the instructions are wrong. Once you have an event displayed, you have to click on the "More" icon (the 3 dots) in the upper right corner and select "Save clip to device". If you're on an iOS device, you'll be prompted to give the Google Home app permission to access photos or your camera roll.

Also, if your camera works ONLY in the Google Home app, you can only download events that Google Nest has detected as "events".  You can only edit and save clips for the older cameras that work in the Google Nest app or on the home.nest.com website.  (Some customers have resorted to using a 3rd party screen capture tool for this.)
