You can check the software and firmware versions by selecting the Nest Hub in the Google Home app, selecting Settings, and then selecting Device Information. However, there seems to be no way for us as customers to update the firmware; Google Nest controls pushing it out.
If you want to try getting a replacement (unfortunately you might get a refurbished device), you could try contacting Google Nest Support: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp?hl=en

Let it be plugged in, it might take a couple of days before a new firmware is indeed sent out by Google.
If it keeps on doing that reboot after a week, let it be replaced at the shop where you bought it from.

i know that i'm not the only one with this issue. there is now way to tell on the home app what firmware version you have.
You can check the software and firmware versions by selecting the Nest Hub in the Google Home app,
selecting Settings, and then selecting Device Information. does not exist on the app. this is an old fix.
terrible customer service. what country are we talking to? the english is third world. and your emails get returned since you use a fake email account.

I'm just another customer. My suggestion wasn't precise; sorry. In the Google Home app, you FIRST need to select the misbehaving Nest Hub, THEN select Settings, and then select "Device information". At the bottom of the screen you should see a section called "Technical information", showing the firmware version. If that doesn't display for your Nest Hub, it seems it must be really messed up.
By the way, most of the responses in this forum are from other customers. Responses from Google Nest staff have a title of "Community Specialist" with have a blue check mark in a blue circle.
If your Nest Hub is rebooting constantly, it certainly seems defective. I don't think a firmware update is going to help.
Sometimes Google Nest Community Specialists provide a link for a form that's supposed to initiate action on a defective product, but customers often say that the form doesn't work.
The only way--unfortunately--to contact Google Nest Support is via this link: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp?hl=en

Hi everyone,
Thanks for visiting the Community.
I appreaciate everyone who shared some steps, all thanks to @Techno_Guide and @MplsCustomer.
@garfunkle, sorry to hear about what happened. Since your device is brand new, I would highly recommend to return it to the store where you purchased it to get a real time replacement. If it is purchased at Google Store, I'd be glad to further assist you with this. Let me know which option you think is best.
Best,
Princess
