4 speaker, 2 phones, 2 languages

I have 2 Google Home Mini 1st Gen (Bought in the US), I have 1 Google Home Mini 1st Gen (Bought in Japan), and I have 1 Google Home Hub 1st Gen (Bought in America). I live in Japan with my Japanese wife. My phone's main language is English and I set up the home in English on my devices. I speak to Google in English. Most of the time it understands me. But for anything personal, it often tells me to do voice match despite already being voice matched. When I try speaking Japanese, it's hit or miss if it wants to listen. Her phone is in Japanese and she speaks Japanese. It rarely listens to her unless it's very basic stuff. I finally added her to the home and my family group. It shows her the rooms in English since that's how I set it up. But when she goes to do voice match on her Japanese phone with Japanese language Google Home, it's in English. Why? Why is it not doing voice match in the phones language setting. It even says you can use separate languages from 2 different devices on the same home. She did English language recognition for now, but when she tries using Japanese it tells her to do voice recognition. What the F Google? The last 3 to 4 years, Google Home has just gotten worse. It's super glitchy and doesn't respond well at all. It's more infuriating than helpful. It's like Google just stopped supporting it. Just bring Gemini to home devices already and trash the Assistant permanently. Well, for now, does anyone know how I can fix my crap system? Get it to properly listen to my wife and I in both languages? Not constantly ignore us because of voice match glitches? Find a way to give her the voice match in her native language?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Will_Trively,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand you're experiencing some challenges with your Google Home Mini (1st gen) devices that were purchased in different locations. While they recognize the English language, they frequently prompt for voice matches even though you've already been set up. Additionally, your wife is rarely able to use voice commands unless they are very basic. Thank you for confirming that you've added your wife to your home. I know how difficult it is when voice match isn't working consistently across your devices, whether in English or Japanese on your phones. I'd be glad to help you with this! To gather some more details, I'd like to ask the following questions:

  • What color is the LED status light on the back of your Google Home Mini (1st gen) devices?
  • Do your Google Home Mini (1st gen) devices never respond to the hotword, or are they only sporadic?
  • What kind of environment are your Google Home Mini (1st gen) devices in? Is it noisy, normal, or quiet?
  • Does the same inconvenience occur with a single Google Home Mini (1st gen) or with all of them?

Please keep me posted. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
Juan
