Hi,
All 4 of my Home Minis stopped working while I was away working for a couple of days (June 19th and 20th). They all said they needed setting up and to download the Home App to continue.
I have factory reset them all. Left them unplugged for up to 10 days then reset them again. I can find them initially, I can tell it to connect to them but then nothing happens, spinny spinny shapes continuously. I have also had it play the connected noise, set it all up, it says thats it your ready to go and then on the first instruction it says it isn't set up and to install the Home App.
I have tried 2 different Android devices. Cleared data/cache on the app. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Tried everything I can find on the Internet. Even searched to see if they had been forced obsolesced or bricked by Goole on purpose with them being so old. I'm in the UK if that helps.
Hoping someone can help...

Hi TwistyDwarf,
Thanks for posting in the community!
I’m so sorry to hear that four of your Google Home Minis stopped working at the same time and that they say they need setting up to continue. Don’t worry; I’m here to help! Just to get started, I have a couple of questions that will help me understand this situation better.
In the meantime, if you have more questions for me, feel free to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist further!

Hi,
Unfortunately I can't see any of the Minis in the app as I removed them when I factory reset them, so I could add them fresh.
We have had them for quite a while now, so at a guess I would say all of them are probably 1st Gen.
I don't get any error messages, I can find the mini, I can connect to the mini but then I just get the dancing, spinning logo and nothing happens after that. I have left it for up to an hour and it is still spinning on the screen. In my WiFi settings it shows I am connected to the SSID. This is the same for all 4 devices.
The twice I did get one fully connected, through voice match, calling, adding contacts etc and I get the All set! But it says your Google home mini has been set up but can't be found. Make sure Mini and Phone are on the same wifi network. When you speak to the mini it says it isn't set up and to download the app.

Hi TwistyDwarf,
Thanks for getting back to me and for providing this useful information!
First, let's verify the generation of your Google Nest Mini. This article explains how to factory reset a Google Nest Mini and includes images to help you differentiate between the first and second generations.
Let's try one more step:
I hope this helps! If you have more questions for me, feel free to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist further!
Best regards,
Nery.

Hi @Panda5
Thank you for your prompt response and the detailed information you've provided. I understand you're encountering an error message that says your Google Home is not set up yet, and it suggests downloading the Google Home app. Don't worry, these things can be frustrating at times, but I'm here to help you troubleshoot and find a solution together.
To assist you further, could you please provide some additional details?
Thank you for your patience. I look forward to hearing back from you soon.
Sincerely,
Jeremy

To the questions:
There have been no changes to the wifi, power (including outages - none), or environment in which the minis live.
There are 2 of them.
We've check off all the basics, like location, power source, etc, no change (and, not for nothing, the fact that two of them are doing this at the same time, in different locations somewhat negates that question).
I use a Pixel 4a 5g.
There are no error messages in the home app - in the app, the minis can be adjusted and controlled as speakers, but they simply will not function as assistants, just consistently chiming back with the repeated message to set up the home.
That's about it... Thoughts?

Update:
After getting absolutely no useful help from Google or specialists (sorry, Nery, but your questions haven't helped anyone with an actual fix), my two minis have spontaneously started working perfectly normally as of last night.
Again, nothing changed in their environment or settings. All I can assume is there was some kind of automatic update that cleared it up.
Sorry to everyone else dealing with this, it's incredibly annoying.

Hello.
I'm having the same issue here. About a week ago, within the same day, all my google devices have stopped working. I have 4 nest Mini, and 3 nest hubs.
I have tried all Google troubleshooting tips, multiple times, including complete reinstallation, factory reset and reboot of all devices, apps and wifi router, but all 7 Google devices simply won't connect to the internet anymore, nor respond to any voice commands.
No internet connection issues with any phones, laptops or tablets in my house.

Hello
Firmware version is:
System firmware version: 20.20240530.3.236
Cast firmware: 3.74.419799
Not sure how to find out the generation of the device?
The error message on the device itself can be a blank white screen AFTER tapping the "finish setup" icon on the device, and frozen on the white screen unless performing a reset of the device. Sometimes, alternatively the device will display the message "Link your Google account", which I have done multiple times, even from scratch by deleting my old home including all data and devices and then creating a new home.
Once the "link your Google account" message appears the device is frozen on this message unless I perform a factory reset.
Same issues as above if I try to setup the device with a mobile hotspot.
The device will not respond to any voice commands.
I have this exact same issue with all my 7 devices.

SAME issue here.
2 minis, gen 1, each have been through multiple phases of basic fixes, and we just ran through a factory reset on both, re-adding them to the home app, etc., to land right back at the same erroneous error message of "Your Google Home isn't set up yet. Download the app... blah blah"
It seems from multiple Reddit threads, and posts here that this is a persistent issue, stemming from some firmware update that has YET to be addressed, and is impacting different generation/ type Google Home devices wildly differently... with one stand-out: the Gen 1 minis are completely screwed.
Could someone from Google come back with any sense of timeline on this? I now have zero functioning devices in my house, and it has been at least a week of this nonsense on my end.
