Bluetooth PIN required to pair Nest Mini

I'm trying to pair my Google Home Minis to my Windows 10 machine to use them as speakers but when I try to connect Windows asks for a PIN. If I enter the usual 0000 it times out with no response. Nothing comes up on the phone I'm using Home on either. Is there a PIN I should use?
