Broadcast option gone?

I recently updated the google home app and a feature is gone. I use to go to “Broadcast” and basically type anything I would like… “charles you are stinky!” “Kids time for bed” or anything I could think of but now that option is gone. Now I have to create an automation and add a “starter” which is either a voice command or when another device does something.

I appreciate the update and those are good features but is there ANY way that I can just type a sentence on my phone and the thing will announce it even just for the fun of it?

The only way I've found is to first add "Broadcast" to "Favorites" so that it can be accessed.  The voice broadcast works, but if I try typing something, the only option it presents  (instead of "Enter" or "Send" is a "Search" button on the screen keyboard on the iPhone, and when I press "Search" Google Nest plays a message saying there's a message from me and pops up a reply, but does not broadcast or display the typed message I entered.

If you tap the "Edit" button at the bottom of the screen, it should allow you to make the "Broadcast" button re-appear. It will default to a voice message but there's a keyboard icon at bottom right which you can tap to type a message instead.

I tried it again on my iPhone. There is no keyboard icon at the bottom right. Instead, I have to tap where the word "Broadcast" is displayed until a keyboard displays, and you have to press the "Search" bar to submit the typed message. The typed message does get broadcast after all.

I'm in the same boat... except when I check off the box for Broadcast to add to my favorites,  nothing appears after I hit save.   Other changes appear (like adding assistant) but not the Broadcast.   Frustrating!

(and yes, I've updated the app)

When I checked "Broadcast", it appeared as my last Favorite, after our Nest Hubs.  (I didn't reorder.)
