Calling Home devices no longer supported

Artee60

In what universe would a company that provides a smart home platform and devices remove the ability to make calls between devices. It is the reason why most people have more one device. Replacing this feature with a crude 'broadcast' option just does cut it.

How could you get this so wrong? Are you so arrogant as a corporation you literally don't care or communicate with your customers? It seems you are about to exit this market given the steady attrition of features. This is sad and infuriating for me as a Google customer, I have android phones and nest home devices everywhere. I feel like I have been literally slapped in the face. And please don't bother to come back with the usual Bot reply

If I were an American customer, I would have done it.

I can't understand why this feature was removed. Like many others here, I had 5 Nests at home to communicate between rooms... Now, I feel like I've been scammed by Google.
As a workaround, we can send notifications to all rooms. However, notifications don't facilitate bidirectional communication, which is frustrating!

Pretty sure this is all due to a patent lawsuit Google lost.

Because of this, I'm selling all 4 of my nest hub max devices and getting Alexa. Google really effed up on this. They one thing that swayed my decision to buy them, now it's gone. Big mistake Google.

Sell them? I'm sending mine via mail to Google HQ. They can have them.

Huge mistake on Google's part.

It sucks tha I wasted my money buying devices for all the rooms at home with the purpose of being able to make calls between them and now the feature that interested me the most is no longer available. This is a scam. You pay for the features and then out of the blue they take them off without any notice. I'm moving to Alexa google scams their users. If they are removing features already provided by the time of purchase they should give the money back if they remove the feature that made you purchase the product in the first place.

Like others have said, making calls to other devices in the home was one of the main reasons I bought the Google devices I have at home. The worst thing of it all is that there has been no real explanation of why this is no longer possible just a statement that it won't be possible....

I'm also starting to be tempted to jump over to Amazon devices if home calls remain unavailable and no more information on the reasoning behind this sudden removal of functionality is forthcoming.

The suggestion to blast the entire home with a broadcast instead of a targeted call to a single device is not an adequate replacement by a long shot.

Hey Google.  You need to Fix this.   I work in a disability home and we used to rely on Google comms which now are useless.

Thanks for saying everything I wanted to say.  It's time for me to upgrade my smart speakers.  💯 Ditching Google speakers for this dumbass decision.

Just saw amazon alexa's new ad campaign, actually highlights how easy it is to voice and video call between devices.

This decision is an absolute embarrassment. You are 100% losing customers to your main rival over this issue. Get it fixed.

Like so many have said before, I purchased 7 devices to communicate directly to whom I wanted to communicate with. Including waking one child up for school WITHOUT waking up the younger ones (like I would if I broadcasted)! I've been dying a slow death on this Google Hill, but this likely will be the final blow. Goodbye Nest! Goodbye Nest. Goodbye Nest.. Get it? It's and Echo...

I also want to express my dissatisfaction with the experience I've had with my Google Nest products, particularly the Google Hubs and other Nest speakers. When I purchased these devices a few years ago, they were advertised with various features that were crucial in my decision, such as the ability to make internal calls between the devices in my home. This functionality was one of the main reasons for my purchase, but to my great disappointment, this feature was removed after the fact.

What is the point of having a smart home display with a speaker and microphone if you can't even communicate between the devices? I’m not alone in feeling frustrated and misled; I’ve seen that many other users share this sentiment.

Unfortunately, I’m now compelled to share my negative experiences with these products publicly and file an official complaint. This isn’t the first time I’ve encountered this issue with Google products. For instance, I’ve seen features removed from the Nest doorbell as well, which led me to the point where I discarded the entire system and switched to a competitor.

It feels like the concept of a 'smart home' at Google is primarily focused on data collection rather than actually improving users' daily lives. This approach is unacceptable to me, and I am now seriously considering replacing my entire Google smart home setup with products from a competitor.

I hope you understand how disappointing and frustrating this situation is for custumors and that steps will be taken to address this issue.

This has happened so many times with different products that Google should really create a page listing removed features (per product). This would save a lot of more frustration.

I have filed a complaint to Google, but I fear that nothing will come of it since these issues have been reported for so long without Google even providing a proper response.

Mine have basically become glorified DABs radio that that I occasionally use to turn the lights on or off.
