Calling myself from nest no longer working

RoccoGeorge

My kids used to be able to call me no problem from our Nest Hub. For whatever reason, this no longer works. My phone doesn’t ring when they call but I get a missed call push notification. I am still able to call them. Please help, I’ve spent hours trying to fix this 😵💫

Tips to fix-

Check the Nest app version.
Check the status of the Nest service.
Make sure your home Wi-Fi works.
Move closer to your router.
Restart your router.
Reset your thermostat and mobile device.
Check the settings on your Wi-Fi router or access point.

All of that is fine. It will call my husband’s phone perfectly. I’m wondering if previously the nest was calling from my gmail to my number, and now it’s calling from my number to my number. Plus I only get a missed call notification if I have the Meet/Duo app open which isn’t ideal.

Hey there,

RachelGomez123, thanks for the help!

RoccoGeorge, when did it start happening? What's the exact command your kids are using in calling you? Are they getting any message on the Google Nest Hub when they're calling you?

Could you try rebooting your Nest Hub and router to refresh the connection? Try setting up household contacts:

  1. Say “Hey Google, set up household contacts.”
  2. Select the people you want to add to your household contacts.
    • If someone is not listed, tap Can’t find someone? Then follow the on-screen instructions.
    • To allow guests to call you from your speaker or display, add yourself to household contacts.
  3. Tap Done.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Alex
