Can't Remove From Home

I have a Nest display that I cannot remove from my home. This is an old device that was sent back to Google, for another separate issue that I am  having. I mistakenly didn't remove it from my home, prior to factory resetting it. I even tried re-adding it to my home, but the old one remained.


It's crazy that we can't remove devices from an existing home in 2022.

 

I see some workarounds suggesting creating a new home, but that requires setting all my camera's and other devices back up.

 

Any help?

Try these steps:

  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap Rooms and groups.
  • Tap the room the device was assigned to.
  • Tap the device.
  • Tap Remove device.

If those steps don't work, try these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap your photo or initials at the top right.
  3. Tap Assistant settings.
  4. Tap Devices.
  5. Tap the device.
  6. Tap Unlink this device.

Thanks David. The display has mysteriously disappeared overnight. But I’ll keep your instructions in mind next time I need to remove a device.
