Can't remove or add third party devices in Google Home

Home Setup:

  • Google Nest Home
  • Google Nest Mini 2
  • Google Pixel Tab with Chromecast Dock
  • Chromecast TV
  • Homey for all other domotics

I have recently setup a new home because I moved into my new house. This was working well for about 6 weeks, but last week I started to have an issue.

All of a sudden I could not cast Audio to my Pixel Dock Speaker anymore, from a trigger from my Homey (domitics hub).

I tried to disconnect one of the third party services (Homey) which didn't work. I tried a lot of different approaches, but frustrated after a day of errors I decided to completely delete this new home in google home. I also deleted the old home as well. After that I still had some connected devices which where not in any home.

These are all third party devices (I had like 6 services coupled), so I tried to disconnect the services. Every time I try to disconnect a service, after a while I receive an error that Google can not reach the service. This is happening with Philips Hue, HEOS, Daikin and Samsung (SmartThings) for example. All services are unreachable??

Because I had no solution I tried to create a new home, but that didn't help.

Then relocated all the devices to the new home, still no luck.

Then I reset my whole wifi at home, tried to reconnect all devices to a new wifi. Did a new home setup (starting with the Google Nest Home). Still I can not add, remove, or re-connect a third party service.

Also tried to initiate everything from my Pixel tablet instead of my phone. En I even un-powerd the whole house to reconnect all individual hubs (like Philips hue, Homey, and SmartThings devices.)

When I try to connect a new service, or re-connect one of the services that I try to remove, I just get forwarded to the third party website to login as usuall. When logged in I can give permission, and then the screen closes. After like 2 miutes I get the same error that the service is unreachable.

Really am sick of it, as I use my google home to control my whole house by voice. I called the google nest helpdesk for advice, but they only came up with a solution to use another email address. But that is not possible. This is my main email where I have all my accounts linked to, and a lot active services (like google one, youtube premium etc.) So I really hope there is another solution.

Hi Nils3,

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry that you're having trouble adding your third Google Nest Home, Google Nest Mini 2, Google Pixel Tab with Chromecast Dock, Chromecast TV, and your third-party devices. I understand how frustrating this must be. I'm here to help.

Things to keep in mind are that when you move a third-party device to another home structure, you must link the device to their account. Make sure to do a proper factory reset to the Google Nest speaker and displays, a factory reset to Chromecast TV, a factory reset to your Pixel Tablet or charging Speaker Dock, and third-party devices to connect to a new Wi-Fi network and new home structure in the Google Home app.

Please confirm if you already did the factory reset previously posted, and for those devices that you don't have or use, after you restart your phone, suddenly will disappear from the Google Home app.

If none of the previous steps work, you might consider creating a new Google email account to test one of the Nest and third-party devices.

Please keep me posted. I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Byron
