Cannot access calendar on Google nest hub max

Ok, this is kinda hilarious. So if you have a standard google domain (a standard free gmail account) you nest hub can (through home assistant) can access your calendar….

but…. If you pay for a domain and workspace, it cannot access your workspace calendar. You will constantly be told you need workspace administrator permissions, you open a free for all permission across your entire workspace…. And still it does not work, still asking you to give permission.

oh but wait, here’s the final punch line. You can use any other competing hub/home device with a screen (Alexa, iOS, Cortina, Facebook screen) and in under 60 seconds get shared calendar access no problem.

i mean, this is ludicrous. Your competition (Google) is managing a service for you environment that you can’t.

please, sort this out, my nest hub is not an ideal paper weight!

Hi Exile-mf-jones,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

I'm sorry to hear that you're running into this issue of using calendar on your Google Nest display. Some Google Home app features are not available for Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) accounts. To access all Google Home app features available in your country, we recommend using a personal Gmail account instead. However, I am happy to try some steps to help you use your calendar on your Google Nest display. Please note that there's no guarantee that it will work flawlessly since Workspace accounts have their own restrictions.

If you are the Google Workspace Super Administrator, follow these steps:

  1. To turn on or off the service for select groups of users, put their accounts in an organizational unit.
  2. Log into your administrator account. This will open the Google Admin console.
  3. From the Admin console dashboard, go to Apps Additional Google services.
  4. Click Web & app activity to open its settings page.

At the top right of the gray box, click Edit Service "".

(Optional) To turn a service on or off for an organizational unit:

  1. At the left, select the organizational unit.
  2. To change the Service status, select On or Off.
  3. Choose one:
    • If the Service status is set to Inherited and you want to keep the updated setting, even if the parent setting changes, click Override.
    • If the Service status is set to Overridden, either click Inherit to revert to the same setting as its parent, or click Save to keep the new setting, even if the parent setting changes.
Note: Learn more about organizational structure.
  4. Click Apply.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Princess
