Chromecast 1st gen

About a week ago (3/10/25) I tried using my chromecast to stream music and my Mini Home says it can't find my speakers. I check the Home app and it show the circle of "trying to connect" but never does. This is after it has worked for years. it seems like everyone is having this problem. When is the fix coming?? I can see and ping the chromecast device and it looks to be working fine.

Hi Paul_D_F,

Thank you for posting in the community.  I understand that you're trying to use your Google Chromecast 1St Gen to stream music. I apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Unfortunately, support for the Chromecast (1st gen) has ended. Therefore, it no longer receives software or security updates, and we no longer provide technical support.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist you further!

Best regards,

Rusell.

I understand that Google doesn't support my Chromecast (1st gen) anymore, but "no support" doesn't justify them bricking it.

Hi Paul_D_F,

Thank you for your response. The Nest Chromecast (1st gen) no longer receives software or security updates. This means that the device is incompatible with linking or using other Google devices for the software version limitations.

Please take a look at this article: How to factory reset your Chromecast or Google TV Streamer - Android - Streaming Help.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist you further!

Best regards,

Rusell.
